We travel to gain experience and adventures and learn something from other cultures. But we often forget about a major gift and lesson we can offer to someone and that is kindness. Kindness has many shapes and many faces as well. You can be kind by giving an advice or you can be kind by helping someone with more than an advice.
Both work very well and they represent acts of kindness. You take some time of yourself and give it to someone else. And kindness is timeless. A person that dedicates a part of her own time to helping people in an amazing way is Cosmina Paul. She, together with other volunteers, initiated a project to help local people with hot meals.
She has many activates inside the project “O masa caldă” (“A hot meal”): from cooking to helping and managing products. She was the initiator of the project and she does a lot for it and she is not alone and “the beautiful part is that everyone is welcomed”. Anyone can join the beautiful project that shares and offers food in Cluj-Napoca, Bucharest, Satu Mare and other cities.
“The last action I made was to help distribute 7 tons of products”. But she always says that “all these actions were made with others.”
When asked about the costs, she says “We have 0 administrative costs. This means that every volunteer supports the costs of transport and often, either entirely or partially the costs of weekly organizing.”
She goes on and says that “I hope that many communities will follow the model of a hot meal. We offer support for this, financially and from the organizational point of view”.
She does wonderful things for a lot of people and because of that “Everyone in this project says thank you. The volunteers that get involved in the community and the people that receive a hot meal”. She helps people in the best ways she can. She would like to get in involved in more things to help people. “I would love to be involved more in the matter of food waste because many things could be done if the matter would be understood”.
How would she see a perfect world? “Exactly like it is, but without problems.” She will try her best to do that going on the premise of what Italo Calvino said “When you build a fence you must think about what you leave on the other side”.
