“I am an extraordinary person”. This might just be a statement people are afraid of, as they always have in their minds the images of thin models or ferocious men, who get attention from all angles. Having that image of perfection presented through different means makes them believe that they are not special. That they are not supposed to be real, but focus only on an image which, in their heads, might please other people.
Do you find yourself in these first lines? Stop where you are and erase any image from your head, the image of that pretty model from the new Vogue issue or the image of that beautiful guitarist you saw in concert, looking flawless.
Do you have a mirror near you? Or, for that matter, anything which might give you a sense of reflection. Look at yourself and do not concentrate on anything, but what you are. A human being, a beautiful human being, with feelings, with flaws, with qualities, with a tornado of thoughts, running through your head and making yourself doubt. Of things, of people, of yourself. And as harsh and difficult as it may seem at the moment, it is the only thing which makes you look and be real, and not just some face on an ad.
From an early age, people see around themselves different images of what they „should be like”, in order to be succesful, admired and loved by everybody. In the case of women, most ads concentrate on them being thin, with not a single mark on their faces or bodies and with beautiful, long and blonde hair, which shines in the sun. Men, on the other hand, look classy, have the perfect body and can hypnotize you just by looking at you. Unfortunately, these images are only objects. And let’s keep it between us, you cannot really rip that photograph from an ad, place it inside a leash and carry it around like some faithful pudel, in order to make it real.
All those marks, all those sleepless nights, all those struggles to lose or gain some weight, all those treatments, they all make you a beautiful person. That tiny laugh you give when you wake up in the morning and see the sun slightly lighting up your room, that moment when you give yourself up to the music and dance, that moment when you trip and fall, that moment when you feel alone, those tears in your eyes, they all make you who you are, a real human being, an extraordinary person, who feels. Not accepting the goods and the bads and refusing to feel might just get you in the point of being compared with just a doll, waiting to be moved from one place to another and basically, be controlled.
Image is temporary, whereas all those elements which made you who you are at this very moment are not. Laugh, cry, do anything as long as it makes you feel real and happy with yourself, and keep in mind that what makes an extraordinary person is not the looks, as it is always debated, but the vibe they spread around.
Would you rather stand by a person who is beautiful only on the outside or would you rather make the best of what you are and spread beauty around you, as imperfect as it is?
